We Have a Province!

Can you believe it? I can scarcely believe. God is so good.

According to the BBC the Third World conservatives are not getting out of the Anglican Communion but does this really mean the alternative 'Anglican Communion minus Canterbury and TEC' (which adds up to most of the world's Anglicans) will get under way?

(Reminds me of the Irish artist who made Garfield Minus Garfield: the ex-British Empire strikes back or 'Canterbury Minus Canterbury'.)

Of course an obvious solution is for the Anglican Communion to kick out TEC and the Anglican Church of Canada by not inviting them to Lambeth any more (which wouldn't and shouldn't shut those churches down - the only thing that would get hurt is the liberals' massive pride) but we know that's not going to happen because of American money and as J.I. Packer has said Rowan Williams is the wrong man to lead in this crisis because he showed his cards before being appointed as believing in gay marriage. So the conservative majority know he's really against them. The net result: nothing really happens or another squall of strongly worded statements. Wow.

As a catholic I don't have a dog in this fight (although I'm a happy part-timer at a Tridentine Anglo-Catholic parish nominally in TEC - it's only a matter of time before TEC, probably through the next local bishop, takes it away from me) but I hate to see my first church reduced to liturgical Unitarianism or a dirty punch-line.

Are we that far ahead that we literally have a province? That would be great!

2ndly--Could you or Fr. Matt explain why the 1662 prayer book? What does it have or doesn't it have that is so different?
3rdly, Were the Anglo Catholic pilgrims feeling "heard" and included?

Didn't know where I could ask these questions so directly from a pilgrim.

Blessings,
Christie

Do you have any idea when the formal Orthodox North American Province will occur? Does GAFCON figure that it is a fait accomplis already? When will the orthodox be truly rid of TEC?

Hope you guys are home safely and resting from your travels.

On Anglo-Catholic "inclusion" at GAFCON, Bishop Iker of Fort Worth has clearly endorsed the final statement. See our diocesan web site, www.fwepiscopal.org
