Step Up

Baby just will not take steps for me. He's taken steps in the church nursery, in the other room for Matt when I was just around the corner out of view, and for other various people. But when he sees me, he sits down and refuses to take steps. Even tried the old stand by-Matt holding cookie and moving back to keep baby walking. THIS baby won't walk for a cookie. This baby becomes utterly frantic for cookie and screams so loudly and so longly, that we just give him the cookie. Lay on the floor laughing while baby hyperventilated for the cookie and Matt tried to get him to at least stand up. After two cookies (unearned), baby ate an egg and a handful of Cheerios and part of a banana. Went to bed looking chubby and laden. But no steps. Maybe tomorrow.

Sounds like you are blessed with a child with extreme will power and determination! I have one like that-- it can make life, um, interesting at times.

It was good to meet you and Fr. Matt on Sunday. We keep your family in our prayers.

Of course baby won't walk for YOU! You're the designated "baby-carrier" - you've been doing it for all these months, no reason why you shouldn't just keep on giving rides forever!

Count your blessings. My two and a half year old walked at 11 months. He wakes up, and he doesn't stop till he falls asleep - yesterday, he climbed up a climber, on his own, that his four year old brother won't try without help.

Lure him with a cute, furry puppy. It works everytime.

Just what you need, right, Anne+, a dog. (laughing)

Grace.

My first one wouldn't walk until she was almost 18 months! In fact, I was almost due with her brother, and I was desperately thinking that soon I'd have to carry around TWO babies! She started just in time. She was very lazy when it came to crawling, too, but I do remember the day she finally began - it was the first day of the first Gulf War, and we were watching the news on CNN, when she began pushing herself along with one foot. Can't blame you for wanting to get moving, kid.
